Covid19 shuts down events

14 May 2020

We have waited to see if there would be any positive change from governments with regard to shutting down the world economy and countries lifting lockdown, especially with regard to sport and activities, that by nature encompass social distancing. Unfortunately that is not going to happen, especially during the PRIME season for fishing for Dorado and Mahi as well as Blue marlin and Sailfish. Important fisheries such as the Bahamas and Bermuda and many others remain closed and the latest information varies from it being closed until the 15 June to some reports that the country will remain closed for another 90 days and when opened there will be 14 day quarantine periods. Due to this and the nature of the Gamefish World Cup, being an international competition, the committee has therefore decided to cancel this years competition, as have many other fishing and sporting tournament organisers. All entries already paid for will be refunded in full this week. The upside is that gives us and you as anglers, ample time to prepare and look forward to 2021 being a stellar year fishing, to make up for this lost season. We will during the course of the year run a few give-away, free entry, competitions with prizes for various Gamefish related videos and pictures specifically with regard to Dorado, Blue Marlin and Sailfish.
